INTRODUCTION
The Board of Tax Appeals is a separate, quasi-judicial,
administrative agency composed of three members appointed by the Governor. It is not a part of the Department of
Taxation. The board was created to
resolve appeals from decisions and orders of the Tax Commissioner and has
jurisdiction over appeals from county boards of revision, county budget
commissions and municipal boards of appeal.

The mission of the Board of
Tax Appeals is to provide taxpayers and taxing authorities with an accessible,
fair and efficient appeals process and to resolve appeals in a timely and
judicious manner by facilitating settlement or by issuing comprehensive written
decisions which are based upon
The board’s decisions may be appealed to district
courts of appeals or the Supreme Court of Ohio.
